Chuck Christburg retired a second time as the Director of Staff, Strategy, Policy and Plans Directorate, North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) and United States Northern Command (USNORTHCOM), at Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado. He directed administration, personnel actions, budget execution, contracting, security management, training programs, facility management, and National Leadership Command and Control (COOP/COG) for the Directorate.
Chuck’s career began with military service. He was commissioned a 2ndLt in the U.S. Marine Corps and designated a Naval Aviator and flew both the A-4 Skyhawk and A-6 Intruder aircrafts. He is a graduate of the Navy Supply Corps School, Marine Air-Group Task Force Intelligence Officers School, and the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College. Chuck was designated as a Space Operations Officer by both the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Army. Additionally, he holds qualifications as a Marine Corps Data Systems Officer after completion of his first Master’s Degree. He has served in numerous Marine Corps, Navy and Joint Intelligence Officer Billets, including Chief of Staff for Intelligence, Commander Amphibious Group-Two/NATO Striking Amphibious Force Atlantic and the Third Marine Division, Okinawa Japan. Chuck has operational experience both afloat and ashore, in all U.S. Combatant Command regions of the world. He retired from the Marine Corps as the Chief, Intelligence Plans and Policy Division coordinating Marine Corps intelligence programs with the Joint Staff (JCS) and the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD). Additionally, he served as the Marine Corps Program Manager for Tactical Exploitation of National Capabilities (TENCAP) Program. Marine Corps TENCAP ensures current and future classified national space systems are integrated into operational military decision making and supports warfighting forces world-wide.
After retirement from the Marine Corps Chuck spent several years as an aerospace consultant for numerous companies including Nichols Research Corporation, Whitney Bradley & Brown Inc., Titan Corporation, AT&T Defense Systems and CollborX Inc. He supported the United States Air Force infrared and radar data fusion program, the United States Navy Time-Critical Targeting program, numerous classified space programs as well as the Missile Defense Agency’s Command and Control for Ballistic Missile Defense program (C2BMC).
He was selected as the Deputy Chief, Policy Division at Headquarters North American Aerospace Defense Command and United States Northern Command (NORAD & USNORTHCOM), where he led Organizational Policy and Legislative Affairs, Joint Doctrine and Theater Security Cooperation efforts for the command. Chuck stood up the Maritime Division tasked with integrating bi-national strategy, policy and plans development for Maritime Domain Awareness as well as Maritime Homeland Defense. Chuck's final civilian leadership position was as the Director of Staff, Strategy, Policy and Plans Directorate, Headquarters NORAD & USNORTHCOM, Peterson Air Force Base Colorado.
