Steve Dalton was one of my two or three best friends from the Wauwatosa Methodist church. We grew up together and have known each other since we could walk. Steve is survived by a sister, Nanci Valentino, who is very active on Facebook. I visited Steve in his home in Hartford Wis, around 1986 or so.
Steve was my best friend from about 7 years old. While unassuming, he was smart and a great athlete. Played a lot of sand lot football, baseball, basketball, and tennis with him in his yard (carefully avoiding his Mom's gaarden) and in the field behind Underwood school. Have missed him ever since he passed on.
I also knew his father well. "Smiling" LeRoy Dalton taught math at Tosa West - totally dedicated to his students, funny, gregarious, and a geat teacher and mentor. Unusual for high school teachers, he had the distinction of authoring math textbooks, a skill typically reserved for leading university figures. To his credit and our benefit, he stayed in Wauwatosa.

Miss them both.
